Welcome to the new Liturgical year. With the first Sunday of advent we begin the year A. So many things have happened to us during the course of the year and we have to be thankful for them all. God is in control of our lives.
 
Advent means “coming” and although we are touched by the humble coming of our God as an infant to save us, it’s also the coming of an adult Christ that we must be thinking of. Will he be a stranger to us and will we be a stranger to him? There is one sure way we will not be strangers, and that is to pray. We will never have a relationship with God or for that matter with anyone else unless we put time aside to nurture that relationship. If we want to know what is the minimum amount of time we can get by with, it is not going to amount to much of a relationship. The second thing it will cost us if we want to go rejoicing to the house of the Lord is to conduct ourselves properly, that is, as he has taught us.
 
Paul gives us a few examples of improper behavior which he describes as making “provision for the desires of the flesh.” Obviously Paul is talking about the desires and cravings of the flesh that are forbidden. A third thing it will cost us to stay on the good side of our creator is to do good works, to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.
 
The time of Advent is to be a joyful moment for us all, because a savior is going to be born for us. Let us all try to prepare our hearts well so that at Christmas we can truly feel the joy that Jesus will bring into our hearts. Very soon our adoration chapel will be ready again for us to have the chance to be with the Lord all the time.
 
May God keep us all under his care until we meet again next Sunday at the feast of the Lord.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO
 
Bienvenidos al nuevo año litúrgico. Con el primer domingo de adviento comenzamos el año A. Nos han pasado tantas cosas durante el transcurso del año y tenemos que estar agradecidos por todas ellas. Dios tiene el control de nuestras vidas.
 
Adviento significa “venida” y aunque nos conmueve la humilde venida de nuestro Dios como niño para salvarnos, también es la venida de un Cristo adulto en lo que debemos estar pensando. ¿Será él un extraño para nosotros y nosotros seremos un extraño para él? Hay una forma segura de que no seremos extraños, y es orar. Nunca tendremos una relación con Dios o con nadie más a menos que dediquemos tiempo para nutrir esa relación. Si queremos saber cuál es la cantidad mínima de tiempo con la que podemos pasar, no será una gran relación. Lo segundo que nos costará si queremos ir gozosos a la casa del Señor es conducirnos como es debido, es decir, como él nos ha enseñado.
 
Pablo nos da algunos ejemplos de comportamiento impropio que él describe como hacer “provisión para los deseos de la carne”. Obviamente, Pablo está hablando de los deseos y anhelos de la carne que están prohibidos. Una tercera cosa que nos costará quedarnos del lado bueno de nuestro creador es hacer buenas obras, amar a nuestro prójimo como nos amamos a nosotros mismos.
 
El tiempo de Adviento ha de ser un momento de alegría para todos nosotros, porque nos va a nacer un salvador. Tratemos todos de preparar bien nuestro corazón para que en Navidad podamos sentir verdaderamente la alegría que Jesús traerá a nuestro corazón. Muy pronto nuestra capilla de adoración estará nuevamente lista para que tengamos la oportunidad de estar con el Señor todo el tiempo. 
 
Que el Señor nos tenga bajo su cuidado hasta el próximo Domino en la fiesta del Señor.

The first reading tells us how David, after defeating all his enemies, was anointed king over all Israel. His kingdom, great and powerful, became the symbol of the kingdom of peace and justice that God would one day establish on earth. Israel waited many centuries for the coming of the one who would begin his kingdom.
 
The gospel gives us God’s answer to expectations. Jesus was not proclaimed king as he sat on a throne, but when he was nailed to a cross.
 
His victory is the victory of love, not of arrogance or violence, as the second reading tells us.
 
We end year C and the liturgical cycle of three years with the image of Jesus forgiving everybody.
 
Let us keep in mind that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, his ways are not ours. The heavens are as high above earth as his thoughts are above our thoughts (Is 55:8-9) If by reading what I have written you understand that the heart of God is very different from ours, then, all the labor gone into this writing  has been worthwhile.
 
We shall soon start our novena to the Blessed Mary of Guadalupe from the 3rd of December till when we shall celebrate the feast on the 12th of December. A priest from Mexico Father Jose de
Jesus Ibarra will be leading us during the novena and the feast. I therefore encourage you all to participate fully in the preparation and the novena prayers knowing it help us built upon our spirituality as Catholics.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO
 
La primera lectura nos cuenta cómo David, después de derrotar a todos sus enemigos, fue ungido rey sobre todo Israel. Su reino, grande y poderoso, se convirtió en el símbolo del reino de paz y justicia que un día Dios establecería en la tierra. Israel esperó muchos siglos para la venida de aquel que comenzaría su reino.
 
El evangelio de hoy nos da la respuesta de Dios a las expectativas. Jesús no fue proclamado rey sentado en un trono, sino cuando fue clavado en una cruz.
 
Su victoria es la victoria del amor, no de la arrogancia ni de la violencia, como nos dice la segunda lectura.
 
Terminamos el año C y el ciclo litúrgico de tres años con la imagen de Jesús perdonando a todos.
 
Tengamos presente que los pensamientos de Dios no son nuestros pensamientos, sus caminos no son los nuestros. Los cielos son tan altos sobre la tierra como sus pensamientos son sobre nuestros pensamientos (Is 55:8-9) Si al leer lo que he escrito entiendes que el corazón de Dios es muy diferente al nuestro, entonces, todo el trabajo invertido en  escribir esto  ha valido la pena.
 
Pronto comenzaremos nuestra novena a María Santísima de Guadalupe desde el 3 de diciembre hasta cuando celebraremos la fiesta el 12 de diciembre. Un sacerdote de México, el Padre José de Jesús Ibarra, nos estará guiando durante la novena y la fiesta. Por lo tanto, los animo a todos a participar plenamente en la preparación y las oraciones de la novena sabiendo que nos ayudan a construir sobre nuestra espiritualidad como católicos.

Gradually, we are coming to the end of the liturgical year. Thus we are left with two Sundays and we will soon start the new liturgical year A with advent. Our normal year is also almost gone we are now in the new month of November. Bearing all these in mind the readings today invites us to reflect about the resurrection.

When we speak of resurrection, we must be careful. Let us not take it to mean what the Pharisees and the Sadducees at the time of Jesus took it to mean, merely an improvement on this life. The story of the woman with seven husbands as well as other misunderstandings between believers and unbelievers stem from this wrong notion.

The first reading reveals the first solemn statement in the Bible of life beyond death. This truth, so central to our faith, will be fully revealed by Jesus. Jesus is the sure hope for our own resurrection since he himself has risen from the dead.

Our faith in the resurrection influences our whole way of looking at human existence. Our faith must be nourished by prayer as Paul recommends in the second reading.

We thank the group of Virgin of Juquila for the beautiful feast that we had on Saturday. It was nice to see culture on display and the food and drinks that we shared. May God continue to bless us in this parish.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO
 
Poco a poco, estamos llegando al final del año litúrgico. Así nos quedan dos domingos y pronto comenzaremos el nuevo año litúrgico A con adviento. Nuestro año normal también casi se ha ido, ahora estamos en el nuevo mes de noviembre. Teniendo todo esto en cuenta, las lecturas de hoy nos invitan a reflexionar sobre la Resurrección.

Cuando hablamos de resurrección, debemos tener cuidado. No tomemos el significado  que  los fariseos y los saduceos tenían  en el tiempo de Jesús entendieron que significaba, simplemente una mejora en esta vida. La historia de la mujer de siete esposos, así como otros malentendidos entre creyentes y los incrédulos provienen de esta noción equivocada.

La primera lectura revela la primera declaración solemne en la Biblia de la vida más allá de la muerte. Esta verdad, tan central para nuestra fe, será plenamente revelada por Jesús. Jesús es la esperanza segura de nuestra propia resurrección, ya que él mismo ha resucitado de entre los muertos.

Nuestra fe en la resurrección influye en toda nuestra manera de ver la existencia humana. Nuestra fe debe ser alimentada por la oración como recomienda Pablo en la segunda lectura.

Agradecemos al grupo de la Virgen de Juquila por la hermosa fiesta que tuvimos el sábado. Fue agradable ver la cultura en exhibición y la comida y las bebidas que compartimos. Que Dios nos siga bendiciendo en esta parroquia.
