Today is the second Sunday of Lent. The days and the weeks are going by quickly and before we realize, it we shall be celebrating the pascal mysteries.
 
Human migration has been there for a very long time since the creation of the world by God. Because of human migration, we have populated all parts of the world.
 
In today’s first reading, we encounter Abraham our father in the faith who was asked by God to go to another land.
 
Abraham did not question God but just obeyed and left his comfort zone to another place as God has indicated him to do. Because of his obedience to the voice of God, Abraham was blessed. The question we must be asking ourselves is whether we too listen to the voice of God and obey it. If not during this time of Lent, we have to actually listen to the voice of God. Abraham’s action was an act of faith in God.
 
Today in the gospel, we hear about Jesus whose importance outweighs anyone who ever lived. St. Matthew tells us today of Jesus’ transfiguration. The event is recorded four times in the New Testament. In all three of the gospels, the transfiguration is preceded by Peter’s confession of Jesus as the Messiah who has come to them.
 
The transfiguration is a visible manifestation of who Jesus is and where his suffering would lead. Lest there be any doubt about the matter, God the Father spoke up to make things clear; “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
 
How does all that apply to us? It gives us hope in our own sufferings. Suffering and death will not have the last word in the lives of those who follow Jesus for just as Jesus could predict that he would be raised, he promises us a share in his glory and in his kingdom: “For this is the will of my father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day” (John 6:40)

Hoy es el segundo domingo de Cuaresma. Los días y las semanas pasan rápido y antes de que nos demos cuenta, estaremos celebrando los misterios pascuales.
 
La migración humana ha estado allí durante mucho tiempo desde la creación del mundo por Dios. Debido a la migración humana, hemos poblado todas las partes del mundo.
 
En la primera lectura de hoy, nos encontramos con Abraham, nuestro padre en la fe, a quien Dios le pidió que fuera a otra tierra.
 
Abraham no cuestionó a Dios sino que simplemente obedeció y dejó su zona de confort en otro lugar como Dios le había indicado que hiciera. Debido a su obediencia a la voz de Dios, Abraham fue bendecido. La pregunta que debemos hacernos es si nosotros también escuchamos la voz de Dios y la obedecemos. Si no es durante este tiempo de Cuaresma, tenemos que escuchar la voz de Dios. La acción de Abraham fue un acto de fe en Dios.
 
En el  evangelio de hoy, escuchamos acerca de Jesús, cuya importancia supera a cualquiera que haya vivido. San Mateo nos habla hoy de la transfiguración de Jesús. El evento se registra cuatro veces en el Nuevo Testamento. En los tres evangelios, la transfiguración es precedida por la confesión de Pedro de Jesús como el Mesías que ha venido a ellos.
 
La transfiguración es una manifestación visible de quién es Jesús y hacia dónde conduciría su sufrimiento. Para que no haya ninguna duda al respecto, Dios Padre habló para aclarar las cosas; ‘Este es mi Hijo amado, en quien tengo complacencia’.
 
¿Cómo se aplica todo eso a nosotros? Nos da esperanza en nuestros propios sufrimientos. El sufrimiento y la muerte no tendrán la última palabra en la vida de los que siguen a Jesús porque así como Jesús pudo predecir que resucitaría, nos promete una participación en su gloria y en su reino: “Porque esta es la voluntad de mi padre, que todo el que ve al Hijo y cree en él tenga vida eterna, y yo lo resucitaré en el último día” (Juan 6:40)
 
Permanece bendecido y sabe que Dios te ama.
